Safety, Sanitation and Health 

660.01 Venting of heaters and burners.

The 2018 village council has vowed to take an active roll in the Village Nuisance Laws.  It will take some work but we must bring pride back to our small community.

Once your complaint has been received, it will be given to the proper committee to be check.

If your complaint meets the requirements of any village Nuisance laws it will be given to the sheriff's office.  Once it has been given to the sheriff's office, we will continue to check with them to see what progress has been made to solve this problem.
Others to consider as nuisance:
452.05 - WILLFULLY LEAVING VEHICLES ON PRIVATE OR PUBLIC PROPERTY. 

(a) No person shall leave any motor vehicle, other than an abandoned junk motor vehicle, as defined in Ohio R.C. 4513.63, on private residential or private agricultural property for more than four hours without the permission of the person having the right to the possession of the property, or on a public street or other property open to the public for purposes of vehicular travel, or upon or within the right of way of any road or highway, for forty-eight hours or longer, without notification to the Chief of Police of the reasons for leaving the motor vehicle in such place. 


452.09 - SELLING, WASHING OR REPAIRING VEHICLE UPON ROADWAY. 

No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle upon any roadway for the principal 
purpose of: 
(a) Displaying such vehicle for sale; or 
(b ) Washing, greasing or repairing such vehicle except repairs necessitated by 
an emergency.

IT IS UNLAWFUL TO RAKE, PLACE OR MOW FALLEN TREE LEAVES OR GRASS CLIPPINGS ON THE PAVEMENT OR INTO THE GUTTER OF ANY PUBLIC STREET.

SECTION I. 

(1) It shall be unlawful to rake, place, or mow fallen tree leaves,     grass clippings and or garden waste of any type onto the     pavement or into the gutter of any public street unless directed by     the Village of Mount Sterling. 

(2) No person shall permit grass clippings from mower swaths to     remain upon sidewalks, street pavements, gutters of any public     street, or on abutting property not owned or occupied by said     person. 

(3) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor on     first offense; on each subsequent offense such person is guilty     of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. 

The Village of Mount Sterling, Ohio desires to keep its street, sidewalks and gutters free of leaves and grass clipping, and fallen tree leaves and/or grass clipping causes storm water to backup into the streets, sidewalks and basements, and; the backup of storm water is a health and safety problem that the Village of Mount Sterling must be addressed immediately.
